New To Westchester

What time are your services?

Worship Services at 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

Sunday School for children and Adult Bible Fellowships (ABF’s) at 9:45 a.m. Combined Worship Services are held periodically during the year.  These are times when we can be together to worship as a church family.

Where should I park and enter the building?

We have three options for parking; (1)  a parking lot on the east side of the church building, (2) a parking lot on the west side of the church building and (3) additional parking available across the street in the Hoover High School parking lot.  You may enter the building from the west parking lot, east parking lot and there is also an entrance facing Aurora Avenue.

How should I dress?

Of course, dress should be modest.  Other than that, we don’t care!  At Westchester Church there is no dress code.  There is nothing more respectful of God about any particular way of dressing.  We want you to feel comfortable, so come as you are!  You’ll see some of our people wearing ties, some wearing tees, some wearing suits and some dressed in more casual attire.  We emphasize relationships, not fashion.  So…you never have to worry, “Am I dressed right?”

Where is the nursery?

If you park on the east side of building and come in that entrance just turn left at the double doors and you will see the nursery. If coming in another entrance?  The Southeast corner will be your destination.

Why should I fill out a registration card?

These cards, which you will find in the pew rack in front of you help us to get to know who you are and serve as a means of communication.  If you ask for prayer, our pastors and staff will pray for you.  If you ask for information, your request is passed on to the appropriate person, who will either call or write to answer you.

What am I expected to put in the offering?

Other than your registration card, NOTHING!  We honestly don’t want guests to feel obligated to give any money to our church.  Our members and regular attenders are responsible to meet the financial needs of the church.  We don’t pressure people to give.  We let God lead people who feel they are a part of the church family to give according to His will for them.

People have nametags – why?

Don’t you hate not knowing someone’s name?  These help all of us to feel more comfortable being able to “remember” a name.

What are ABF’s and Sunday School?

Sunday School is for children of all ages to come together and study the Bible.

Some people like to call ABF’s Sunday School classes.  But they are more.

Adult:  They are for college age and up to meet their special needs.

Bible: They major on the teaching and application of the Work of God to daily life.

Fellowship:  They also major on relationships and caring love, a huge need for this world.

They are groups for study and fellowship, organized around the Sunday morning adult Bible Study hour, often called Sunday School

What is Children’s Church?

During the school year during the 11:00 a.m. Worship Service there is a church just for children.  It is located in Room 245-246 and is for ages 4 through 1st grade
