Worship Arts

The Worship Arts Ministry exists to lead people into a more intimate and authentic relationship with Jesus through artistic mediums of music, drama, dance, visual arts, and multi-media presentations.

We are a community of artists who endeavor to worship Christ authentically and passionately. Our ministry seeks to draw creative people together and allow them to employ and develop their gifts to glorify God, striving for excellence in both “heart and art.”

If you have technical abilities, there is a place for you in the multi-media ministry area of worship. Areas of service include live sound reinforcement, computer support, stage lighting, photography, and videography.

If you have musical abilities, whether vocal or instrumental, there is a place for you to praise God within the Worship Arts Ministry. We want to be good stewards of the gifts God has gifted to His people. As such, all musicians complete a survey so we can best understand each one’s giftedness and how they fit into the ministry.

God has gifted artists with talents that can make an enormous impact in the lives of people. If you have been gifted with skills in the area of the arts, please connect by e-mail. 

Here are the current opportunities within the Worship Arts Ministry:

Choir – The Gathering

If you love to sing and are looking for a place to gather with others, choir or The Gathering is the place for you. The Gathering rehearses from 5:00-6:00 pm on most Sundays.

Dance and Creative Movement

This is a developing area of worship at Westchester. If you have a passion for dance and creative movement, please e-mail us.

Handbells

The handbell choir is for any adult or high school student who has a desire to expand their ministry through the fellowship of this instrumental group. Basic music reading is needed to be a part of this group. The basics and the art of handbell ringing are taught in the rehearsals. The handbell choir performs during special services throughout the year.

Multi-Media Ministries Team

The Multi-media Ministries’ purpose is to serve God “behind the scenes” in many different ways. The Team works to enable the effective receiving of God’s Word through every means possible; the spoken word, song, story, imagery, and video.

Whether you have little experience or plenty, there is a place for you. The Multi-Media Ministry is for people with a positive servant attitude who are teachable, have an interest in one or more of the technical areas, and who pay attention to detail.

Rehearsals for those involved with audio take place during the Tuesday evening rehearsal, beginning at 7:00 p.m. prior to your scheduled Sunday.

Narrations and Drama

Narrators are used to bring Scripture and dramatic readings to life. Skits and sketches are periodically used during Sunday Services to reflect the challenges and experiences of life. If you have a passion for drama, please please let us know by e-mail.

Orchestra

The orchestra meets in preparation for special services throughout the year, including but not limited to, Easter and Christmas. We are always looking for new instrumentalists in all areas (brass, woodwinds, strings, percussion).

Praise and Worship Teams

Praise and Worship Teams consists of vocalist and instrumentalists with a passion to lead others in worship. Worship team members function as lead worshippers, meaning that they lead others in worship by engaging in worship themselves. This occurs both on Sunday and throughout the rest of the week. Vocalists on the praise teams sing in the choir and may also be involved in special music.

Praise and Worship Teams rehearse at 7:00 pm on Tuesday evenings. Currently, instrumentalists on the teams serve on two-week rotations and vocalists serve on monthly rotations.

Prerequisites for serving on a praise team include 1) attendance at Westchester Sunday services and Adult Bible Fellowship for six months and 2) completion of an interview and audition.
